U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Co., part of Altria Group, has issued a recall on some of its smokeless tobacco products. Consumers in several states including North Carolina, Indiana, Texas, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Tennessee have filed complaints with the company after finding sharp metal objects in certain cans of smokeless tobacco.
The recall involves certain products under the brands of Copenhagen, Husky Brands and Skoal. All of these products were made in the the company’s facility located in Franklin Park, Illinois. This recall does not impact Copenhagen Fine Cut in a fiberboard can, Copenhagen Long Cut Wintergreen in a plastic can, or Copenhagen Long Cut in a fiberboard can.
The company notified the U.S. Food and Drug Administration of the recall, which was announced on February 1, 2017.
