Over the years, the family continued to expand in tobacco. In 1975 it acquired the Neos Cigar brand; it acquired the TAF factory in 1979, which also made the family the owner of the J. Cortès brand. Guido Vandermarliere’s son, Frederik, joined the company in 2005. Frederik oversaw the acquisition of U.S. and Nicaragua-based Oliva Cigars in 2016, a company that complemented J. Cortès’ product portfolio with the addition of premium handmade cigars.
