This is the third time the CBP has modified its Withhold Release Order on tobacco from Malawi; in June 20202, it was modified to allow for imports of tobacco from Alliance One International; in August 2020 it was against modified to allow imports of tobacco from Limbe Leaf Tobacco Company, Ltd. Both companies had to fully address the CBP’s concerns about use of forced labor in their production processes before being included in the modified Withhold Release Order.
Any person or organization that has reason to believe merchandise produce with the use of forced labor is being imported into the U.S. can report those allegations to the CBP online by clicking here or by call 1-800-BE-ALERT.
