“From the very beginning of Oliva’s takeover, we always emphasized the fact that nothing would change regarding the brands and the quality on the one hand, and the management and composition of the company on the other,” explains Fred Vandermarliere, CEO of J. Cortès. “We did and do see plenty of potential for Oliva, with corresponding modernization where necessary.”
The company celebrated the opening of the new factory by giving the first hundred hand-rolled cigars out of the factory a special cigar band. Half of these cigars were distributed at the group’s headquarters in Zwevegem, Belgium, where they were put on display. The other half remained at the factory.
