The wrapper for the Kafie 1901 Serie L Dominican puro is a 5-year-aged Corojo from the Cibao Valley in the Dominican Republic. This is a medium- to full-bodied cigar with a blend that’s described as “complex” and that has a perfect balance throughout. According to Dr. Kafie, the flavor notes of the cigar include wood, leather, almond, honey and floral notes. The flavor profile is also described as sweet with an undertone of what Kafie describes as “an undertone of bitter cocoa elegance.”
Beginning Sept. 15, 2022, the Kafie 1901 Serie L Natural will be available in a Robusto (5 x 50) and Toro (5 3/4 x 54) format. Both sizes will come packaged in 20-count boxes with an MSRP that ranges from $9.50 to $11 per cigar, before applicable taxes. This winter, the cigar will be launching in three additional sizes: Belicoso (6 1/4 x 52), Churchill (7 x 47), and Gran Toro (6 x 58). Each will be available in 20-count boxes with an MSRP that ranges from $11 to $12.50 per cigar, before applicable taxes.
“Some blends contain new exotic tobaccos like Andullo tobacco and Cameroon tobacco, both of which come at a premium,” Kafie explains.
The other core cigar lines that have been rebranded include the Kafie 1901 DF Maduro (Released in 2013), Kafie 1901 Connecticut (Released in 2014), Kafie 1901 Sumatra (Released in 2015), and Kafie 1901 San Andrews (Released in 2016). These blends are the same as before but improved by La Aurora with the use of finer and more well-aged tobaccos.
