Gurkha’s digging into the humidor of year’s past for its 2018 International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailers releases. This year the company has re-mastered several predicate blends that will be reintroduced at this year’s IPCPR trade show and convention. These blends–Chateau de Prive, Marquesa, and Ghost Gold will join the returning Cellar Reserve 10th Anniversary, brought back for another year due to popular demand.
“We are excited to introduce these cigars that underscore Gurkha’s focus on creating quality cigars for all palettes,” said Kaizad Hansotia, CEO of Gurkha Cigars. “Our blending team worked hard to create cigars that would be a great addition to any cigar lover’s humidor.”
Chateau de Prive will be a limited edition cigar that’s more traditional and mild than most of Gurkha’s portfolio. Chateau de Prive will feature an Ecuadorian Desflorado wrapper, Dominican Olor binder and Dominican filler. It will have a special IPCPR release limited to just 300 boxes of each of the three vitolas–Bishop (5 x 50), Rook (6 x 46), King of Warriors (6 1/2 x 52). MSRP is $10-$11. It is expected to ship sometime between October and November for a holiday release.
Marquesa is reminiscent of pre-embargo Cuba. It was designed to have a vintage Cuban feel, including a spicy Cubanesque flavor and vintage packaging. It is crafted with an earthy Sumatra wrapper, Nicaraguan binder, and Ometepe and Esteli, Nicaraguan filler that gives the cigar a bold but well-balanced medium-bodied smoking experience. It will be available in three vitolas: Robusto (5 x 52), Toro (6 x 54), Belicoso (5 x 54). Marquesa is expected to begin shipping in August. MSRP is $8 to $9.
