Altria and JT intends to combine its scientific and regulatory expertise to prepare filings for the latest version of Ploom HTS products with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Both companies currently expect to submit premarket tobacco product applications (PTMA) for these products during the first half of 2025.
Should they receive PMTA authorization, Horizon will market and commercialize the companies’ HTS products in the U.S. By this time, Altria anticipates it will not have the commercialization rights to IQOS products. JTI will be responsible for manufacturing the Ploom HTS devices while PM USA will manufacture the Marlboro HTS consumables for the U.S. Horizon will also use its distribution network that consists of over 200,000 U.S. retail stores to sell these products.
