Since 1888, Villiger Cigars has been imported Brazilian tobacco. In 1979 the company established a Brazilian-based subsidiary, and factory named Charutos Tobajara Limitada. The name was based on a tobacco growing Indian tribe in the Amazonas area. Eventually, a larger and more modern factory was opened, replacing the old factory, and the Brazilian subsidiary has changed its name to Villiger do Brasil Limitada.
Heinrich Villiger made it a point to attending the opening celebrations of the new factory. Currently, Villiger do Brasil produces only Brazilian puros including the Villiger San’Doro Maduro and European exclusive brands Villiger Celebration and Corrida.
