There is very little evidence of e-cigarettes being effective in smoking cessation efforts but there was substantial evidence that showed e-cigarette use could lead youths and young adults to try traditional tobacco products. E-cigarette use could reduce a smoker’s exposure to many of the harmful chemicals and carcinogens found in traditional cigarettes.
In summary, while e-cigarettes and vaping can be a safer alternative than traditional cigarettes, the panel of experts found both positive and negative effects of e-cigarette use and were not ready to conclude they were entirely safe. You can read more highlights from the report by clicking here.
