Japan Tobacco’s overall operating profit also increased by 24 percent to JPY 160.1 billion due to an increase in adjusted operating profit. Within its international tobacco business, total shipment volume increased by 5.2 percent, mostly due to market share gains and stronger domestic volume in Taiwan and the UK due to the travel restrictions. When factoring in favorable inventory adjustments, total and GFB shipment volumes grew by 5.8 percent and 9.1 percent respectively, fueled by Winston, Caeml, LD and Mevius products.
