As a part of the notification issued by the California Secretary of State, county election officials were directed to proceed with process to verify the signatures of those voters who signed the petition to place SB 793 on the November 2022 California general election ballot. The court order and the joint stipulation state that SB 793 “shall remain ineffective and unenforceable” until either: (1) the referendum petition is determined to contain an insufficient number of valid voter signatures, or (2) the voters of California approve SB 793 as a part of the November 2022 statewide election.
