TOBACCO BUSINESS INTERNATIONAL
SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2014
A built-in biometric fingerprint reader
feature helps ensure that employees
don’t clock each other in or out. “We
use fingerprint technology, so there is no
more ‘buddy punching’ where someone
asks a friend to punch him [or her in or]
out,” explains Nolan.
There’s no denying that a POS system
is an investment. Retailers pay $2,000 per
register license to install the FasTrax system
and $50 per license for unlimited support,
says Nolan, who notes that the capabilities
more than make up for the investment. “I
always ask people, ‘Can you put a price tag
on your time?’” he asks. “Because in time
savings alone, it pays for itself.”
FasTrax continually updates and adds
new features to its systems, informing
customers via email about updates,
which can be downloaded for free by
subscribers. “We have a virtual server
setup to push down updates regularly
every10-12weeks,which is anautomated
process,” explains Nolan. “However,
when there is a large update requiring
the computer to be restarted, we then
send email notifications.”
Going forward, the company plans
to continue to evolve, notably by
adding a streamlined version of FasTrax
appropriate for single store retailers, says
Schwartz, who hopes to launch that
product by year-end.
“We believe we are delivering the
Ferrari of POS systems,” he says. “When
someone looks at the work the system
is doing for them, they quickly realize
[that] it’s the best employee they will ever
have.”
