carton inventory and pack sales or boxes of
premium cigars and individual cigar sales.
Retailers can also use the system to generate
reports on which products are selling well
and which are not. In the case of multiple
stores, the system can even be used to shift
a product that isn’t moving in one location
to a store where it’s selling well.
For chains, prices can be adjusted
globally or, if a chain wants to tailor its
pricing to specific locations, by individual
store. “All of your data is backed up at
the corporate office, so if a store system
crashes, you can put in a new hard drive,
connect to corporate and push all the sales
information back down into the system,”
says Nolan.
Leaving Loss Behind
Efficient inventory management, by
nature, helps retailers recognize and curtail
theft. When there is an issue, being able
to check inventory between shifts helps
stores to identify those responsible.
But FasTrax POS system has additional
features geared toward monitoring
employees and curb theft. “Ninety percent
of employees who steal do so by voiding,
canceling or returning an item and taking
money out of the register,” explains Nolan.
“We time-stamp those transactions and
let you run a void-cancel-return (VCR)
report that shows all of those transactions
and the corresponding time stamp so
you can look to see who was working the
register and what customers were in the
store.” That timesaving feature eliminates
the need to sift through days of recorded
security camera footage.
