TOBACCO OUTLET BUSINESS
SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2012
PRODUCT PROFILE
The Return
of Cien Anos
La Aurora is bringing back the Cien
Anos, a cigar it debuted in 2003 to mark
its 100th year in business. The Cien
Anos, which was the #1 rated cigar from
the Dominican Republic, was re-released
for the August IPCPR show. The cigars
feature a silky-looking Dominican Corojo
wrapper aged four years. They are
available in three sizes: Robusto ($12.00
MSRP; 25 count), Churchill ($14.00
MSRP; 25 count) and Belicoso ($16.80
MSRP; 25 count). Each size is limited in
production to 20,000 cigars.
We are happy to have a cigar back
for a limited time, whose original release
is still talked about today,” says Jason
Wood, VP of Miami Cigar & Company,
which handles distribution for La
Aurora in the U.S. “The addition of the
Connecticut Broadleaf will only add to
the legend of the Cien Anos.” Miami

Time for Expansion
Nat Sherman is expanding the
company’s Timeless Collection of
cigars manufactured in the Dominican
Republic by MATASA with a new blend
made in Nicaragua by Plasencia Cigars
S.A. These Nicaraguan
puros
will be
available in three box-pressed formats,
4
x52, 5x56 and 6x60, ranging in price
from $140 to $180 per box of 21 cigars.
The company also added two new
sizes to the Dominican-made Timeless
Collection: Especiales (a traditional
lancero
format at 6x38 with a pigtail cap)
and Divinos (a small perfecto measuring
5
x32/50/36).
For Events Only
The new J. Grotto Series Reserve
Lancero
Limitado
shape—a
10,000-
cigar run intended only for
retailer events—joins the J. Grotto
Series Reserve brand of boutique
cigars from Ocean State Cigars. Each
participating retailer will be allocated
four boxes (40 cigars) of Lanceros
Limitados per event.
The cigars are handmade, using
three-year aged select tobaccos—a
Nicaragua-grown Criollo 99 wrapper
and Criollo 98 binder, plus a filler of
Honduran-grown ligero and Jalapa
leaves. The Lancero Limitado joins
four existing J. Grotto Reserve shapes:
Gran Corona (5-5/8x46), Gran Robusto
(5
x52), Gran Toro (6x52) and Gordo
(6
x60). With a suggested retail price
of $8.95, the Lancero Limitado is full-
bodied, but tempered by the aging
and balanced blending, yielding a
sophisticated smoke. Like all J. Grotto
cigars, it is entubado-bunched for
smooth, easy draw and uniform
burn. Its pigtail-capped head gives it
a distinctively traditional look. Ocean

Time to Xhale
Based in San Jose, California, Xhale O2 manufactures and
distributes electronic cigarettes that feature cartridge technology
for which the company has a patent pending, both nationwide and
internationally. This proprietary technology changes the way the
device operates and “vaporizes” the nicotine solution in a more
controlled manner. The company’s e-cigs are available in both
traditional tobacco and menthol flavors, and it also offers E-Hookah
products, which do not contain nicotine and have become increasingly popular
over the last few years. Xhale O2 makes all of their nicotine and non-nicotine liquid
in the U.S. and assembles products at their facilities in San Jose and Los Angeles.
