TOBACCO OUTLET BUSINESS
MAY/JUNE 2012
2012 were tours to Corporación Cigar
Export, Inetab (tobacco processing
company), water rafting, a tour to the
Jimenoa waterfall, pairing rum with
cigars at the Gran Almirante hotel
and a Procigar Poker Tournament with
proceeds to local charity.
Each attendee also received a gift bag
with a retail price of approximately $400,
including the festival special edition cigar
box, a beautiful ashtray, cigar accessories, a
polo shirt, hats and drinks, among other
interesting items.
Other highlights of the festival
included:
• dinner at the Los Jardines Cabrera
Vidal,whereCorporaciónCigar Export,
Tabacalera de García, Tabaquisa and
La Aurora presented a new and unique
cigar to all the guests.
• a traditional white attire dinner atop
Santiago’s Monumento a los Héroes
de la Restauración, where attendees
sampled new cigars from Tabadom,
Matasa, General Cigar and Fuente
before heading to an “after party” at the
famous local club Moma.
• the closing ceremony at the Centro
Español, a private Spanish club in
Santiago, where guests enjoyed a dinner
and a show.
As always, every event at the festival
had a sense of pride in the role the
Dominican Republic plays in the cigar
world—and vice versa. As Francisco
Bono, a famous Dominican politician
and intellectual of the nineteenth
century, once said: “The tobacco is the
true founding father of our country.”
