Highlights from the
PROCIGAR FESTIVAL 2012
More than 300 guests from
over 20 countries enjoyed the
festivities at the fifth annual
Procigar Festival in Santiago,
Dominican Republic.
I
n February, suppliers, retailers,
consumers
and
industry
associates gathered to celebrate
the Procigar Festival and to honor
the Dominican Republic as the No.
1 exporter of premium cigars in the
world. Sponsored by General Cigar,
Matasa, Tabacalera de García, La
Aurora, Tabadom, Corporación Cigar
Export and Tabaquisa, among other
companies, the 2012 Procigar Festival
began at the illustrious Casa de
Campo, La Romana, where Tabacalera
de García welcomed cigar lovers to the
country.
Guests enjoyed a tour of the
facilities, as well as the option to
participate in the fifth annual Procigar
Golf Tournament at Dye Fore golf
course, take a catamaran ride to
Palmilla & Saona Island, enjoy an
eco-walk through a tropical forest or
simply relax at Casa de Campo.
The next day guests headed to
Santiago, the “heart of Cigar Country,”
for three days of guided tours of the
Matasa, La Aurora, General Cigar
and Davidoff factories. Attendees also
participated in other exciting activities
in Santiago, including rum factory
tours, city tours, merengue lessons
and a beach day. New activities for
