Toraño Reintroduces
Reserva Selecta
The Toraño Family Cigar Company has reintroduced
their venerable Reserva Selecta premium cigar line.
The box design has been face-lifted, but the cigar’s
award-winning blend—which was among the ear-
liest of many Toraño cigars to gain a 90-plus rat-
ing—remains untouched. First launched as the com-
pany’s “Millennium Cigar,” the Reserva Selecta is
now one of the Toraños’ most successful brands. It
celebrates the family’s heritage in dark tobacco and
fine cigars that dates back almost a century to 1916.
Four shapes are offered: a 5x50 Robusto, a
7-1/4x48 Churchill, a 6x52 Torpedo and a new 6x60
BFC. All the tobaccos in Reserva Selecta are aged
a full three to five years, which—along with the se-
lection of meticulously blended tobaccos—makes
Reserva Selecta a “sophisticated mild-to-medium
smoke with balance and harmony,” says President
Charlie Toraño. The cigar features a Connecticut
shade wrapper, Indonesian binder, and Dominican,
Nicaraguan and Honduran filler. The newly reintro-
duced cigars are presented in cellophane tubes,
packed in boxes of 20. The new presentation elimi-
nates the cedar sheaths, crystal tubes and compart-
mentalized trays that some retailers found cum-
bersome. The Reserva Selecta band has also been
updated to reflect the Toraño’s s new band logo, al-
though it retains its iconic blue color. MSRPs for the
Reserva Selecta line fall between $6.95 and $8.30.
Toraño Family Cigars,
Legendary Nat Cicco
August 2010 saw the introduction of the first value-priced premi-
um cigar in the Nat Cicco line from Zander-Greg, Inc. Nat Cicco
Cuban Legends are all-tobacco, all-handmade cigars, in four large
ring-gauge shapes. The company has now added a new blend to
the line—Cuban Legends Habano.
Nat Cicco Cuban Legends are made in Nicaragua. The filler
blend is Nicaraguan tobacco, which moderates the robust Habano
wrapper leaf. The available shapes are the Cuban classics: Robus-
to (5x50), Toro (6x50), Churchill (7x50) and Torpedo (6x52). Pre-
sented 20 cigars to a bundle, their suggested retail pricing ranges
from $2.49 to $2.99 each. Zander-Greg, Inc., Pasadena, CA, 888-
