The Potential of Petites
JM Tobacco will unveil “Classic Petits,” its new small cigar product category, at
IPCPR 2012. The 4”x32 Classic Petits “satisfy the rapidly expanding market for
shorter-duration smokes,” says Anto Mahroukian, the company’s president.
“Smokers are moving toward smaller cigars like Classic Petits, because they
provide a rich, flavorful 15-minute smoke break for cigar lovers who don’t have
the time or budget for a full-sized premium cigar. But, unlike cigarillos, their
larger ring gauge delivers a more abundant amount of smoke, which allows
the smoker to enjoy more of a ‘large cigar’ experience.”
Classic Petits are available in both natural and maduro wrappers and
will be priced to compete with existing brands of European “connoisseur-
level” small cigars. The hand-made cigar combines a multi-nation blend of
top-quality tobaccos, aged for two full years. They are made in the same
Dominican factory as value-priced JM’s Dominican line and Carnero premium
cigars, also appearing at the show, and come in an attractive, durable and
convenient seven-cigar carton. The cartons can be bought individually, as well
as in 10-carton boxes, totaling 70 cigars. JM Tobacco, 888-377-2667, www.

Case in Point
Nat Sherman International has introduced Nats’ Point
Fives Petit Cigars, a line extension to its original Nats’
Cigarillos. The Nats’ Point Fives Petit Cigars are premium
handmade cigars crafted in the Dominican Republic.
Each cigar is individually cellophane-wrapped. Five
cigars comepacked inNat Sherman’s traditional shoulder
box, which is offered to retailers in a display cube that
contains five boxes, totaling 25 cigars. Nats’ Point Fives
are available in natural and maduro wrappers with a
Dominican binder and filler. The Natural is a medium-
bodied cigar with a golden-hued “true” Connecticut-
shade wrapper, which offers a touch of spice with a
solid core of woody flavors and floral aromas. The Nats’
Point Fives Maduro uses a dark Connecticut broadleaf
maduro wrapper that delivers rich flavors of roasted nuts
and bittersweet chocolate with a touch of earthiness in
a medium-bodied smoke. Nat Sherman, 800-221-1690,
