Oettinger Davidoff AG has opened its newly constructed building and head office on Nauenstrasse in Basel. Maison Davidoff at 73 Bauenstrasse in Basel replaces the company’s 1930 building that was located at the same site. The previous building had undergone several remodels over 85 years. Maison Davidoff will accommodate 160 of the company’s 160 employees.
Maison Davidoff was designed by Diener & Diener and features open workspaces encouraging communication and collaboration. Working areas have showrooms, cigar lounges, a cafeteria and a car parking area. The building has seven floors and is 7,667 m2 (SIA 416) large. The interior was designed by Lassoudry Architects GmbH who worked a theme of well-being into the work environment. They also wanted to bring in warmth and authenticity inspired by the Caribbean into the design, evoking Davidoff’s motto of “Time Beautifully Filled.” Art work throughout the building are from artists who were part of the Davidoff Art Initiative and reflect the basic values of respecting nature, preserving the traditional methods of cultivating premium tobacco and cigar production, and reflecting cultural artistic heritage and contemporary art scene in the Caribbean.
