RJ Reynolds Tobacco Co. Seeks Modified Risk Classification for Camel Snus Product

Reynolds Tobacco Co. (RJRT), a subsidiary of Reynolds American Inc., has submitted Modified Risk Tobacco Product (MRTP) applications to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), covering six different offerings of Camel Snus.

In addition to the applications, RJRT also sent the FDA more than 450,00 pages of documentation, covering the results and discussion from a collection of scientific studies, including: Likelihoods of use studies based on the proposed MRTP claims; consumer perception and understanding studies of the proposed MRTP claims; chemistry (pre-clinical and clinical toxicology) as well as epidemiology; and population-level modeling under a scenario where the MRTP claims are authorized for dissemination to adult smokers.
