experiencing Graycliff
Why settle for just experiencing the luxury of a Graycliff cigar when you can opt for a luxury Graycliff vacation? Located
in Nassau, Bahamas, the historic mansion now known as the Graycliff Hotel is where it all started for the cigar-making
Garzaroli family. “We moved here from Italy when I was seven,” recounts Paolo Garzaroli, whose father, Enrico Garzaroli,
bought the mansion in 1973, turned it into a restaurant and decided he needed to move to the Bahamas to run it five
years later.
Shortly thereafter, the restaurant began racking up culinary awards. It soon became a Mecca for food and wine
enthusiasts (Graycliff ’s wine cellar houses 250,000 bottles from 400 vintners) traveling to the Bahamas. Over time
the family expanded the home and began running it as the elegant 20-room hotel with two restaurants, the Graycliff
Restaurant and the Humidor Churrascaria, that it is today. Well-located next door to Government House and just a few
minutes from the area’s beaches, Graycliff features antique-furnished rooms, a gym, two swimming pools surrounded by
gardens and—unique among hotels—its very own cigar manufacturing facility.
Enrico Garzaroli still runs the hotel business (Paolo oversees the family’s cigar business, airport retail operations and
fledgling chocolate company), which he periodically reinvents through renovations and the introduction of new packages.
Among these is a three-night cigar package that includes a cigar-rolling lesson by one of the company’s master rollers,
as well as two culinary experiences: a tasting dinner at Graycliff restaurant including wine pairings with each course and
a Graycliff cigar and after dinner cordial and an evening at the Churrascaria Humidor (a traditional Brazilian Rodizio
barbecue restaurant).
