Blended by longtime General Cigar collaborator A.J. Fernandez, the Hoyo de Monterrey La Amistad Dark Sumatra will feature an Ecuadoran Sumatra wrapper, Connecticut broadleaf binder and filler tobaccos from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Honduras. The cigar will be made available in three different vitolas: Espresso (4 1/2 x 50), Media Noche (5 3/4 x 54), and Noche (6 1/2 x 52). MSRP will reportedly range from $7.99 and $8.59 per cigar. This cigar replaces the old Hoyo de Monterrey Dark Sumatra cigar previously offered by General Cigar.
The cigar will be made at A.J. Fernandez’s cigar factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. Hoyo de Monterrey La Amistad Dark Sumatra will also feature updated packaging, giving the cigar line a more sleek and modern look. The cigar is set to make its official debut during the 2019 International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailers Association (IPCPR) trade show and convention in Las Vegas this June in Las Vegas.
