To create this cigar, a small amount of the upper priming leaves developed a unique reddish hue and were set aside for deeper aging. These leaves underwent additional fermentation for another six months to help the tobacco develop a more elegant taste. Only eight barrels of this Ecuadoran Sumatra was deemed worthy of using as the wrapper for this new Cohiba Spectre cigar. The cigar’s blend consists of Dominican Piloto Cubano, Nicaraguan, and Honduran tobacco.
Only 180 boxes of Cohiba Spectre have been produced. It will be made available in one vitola–7 1/4 x 54 and packaged in a unique circular red and silver box containing 10 cigars. Each box of Cohiba Spectre retails for $900 with individual cigars selling for $90.
