Fred Vadermarliere, CEO of J. Cortès, has become a shareholder and partner at Brandshopper, an online platform that sells outdoor sports equipment and also premium cigars.
Keith Meier founded Brandshopper ten years ago and views this new partnership with the Vandermarliere family as a chance to grow and expand the online platform’s reach. Meier is no stranger to the cigar industry and e-commerce. He was the founder of Cigars International, which he sold to General Cigar Company in 2007. Several years after that sale, Meier founded Brandshopper and yet again was able to create a strong online shopping platform for consumers. Brandshopper, an e-commerce platform, provides direct to consumer sales of outdoor sports equipment and cigars. Under the Brandshopper umbrella are a number of websites including fieldsupply.com, wingsupply.com and cigarpage.com, among others. Meier will remain as CEO of Brandshopper and run the day-to-day operations.
“The new investment will help accelerate growth and give the extra push to gain a greater market share in this environment,” commented Meier. “It was important to work with the right party and Fred [Vadermarliere] was the man I was looking for. It was clear early on in our discussions that we share a vision, we are both ambitious and want to make it a great ride together.”
