FDA Extends Compliance Deadlines For Some Due to Natural Disasters

If you’re a manufacturer or importer affected by one of the recent hurricanes and wildfires, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is offering some relief. The FDA has announced an extension in compliance deadlines for the ingredient listing and health document submission requirements for those living in the following areas:

Manufacturers and importers of deemed products in the Caribbean Islands:

– Antigua and Barbuda
– Barbados
– Bonaire
– Sint Eustatius and Saba
– British Virgin Islands
– Cuba, Dominica
– Dominican Republic
– Guadeloupe
– Martinique
– Montserrat
– Saint Barthélemy
– Saint Kitts and Nevis
– Saint Lucia
– Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
– Saint Martin/Sint Maarten
– Turks and Caicos Islands

Manufacturers and importers of deemed products in counties designated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as disaster area:

The FDA says that it will add additional counties to this list if FEMA declares more counties as disaster areas. For non-small-scale tobacco product manufacturers and importers of deemed tobacco products, the FDA is extending the compliance deadline for listing product ingredients to May 8, 2018. The extended deadline for small-scale tobacco product manufacturers in these areas is Nov. 8, 2018. The deadline for submission of tobacco health documents by non-small scale tobacco product manufacturers and importers was Feb. 8, 2017 and is not included in this extension.
