Other legislators including Representatives David Joyce (R-Ohio) and Earl Blumenauer (D-Oreg.) are already co-sponsors of a companion bill in the House of Representatives. Their bi-partisan bill would amend the Controlled Substances Act to make it difficult for the federal government to prosecute individuals or entities that are in compliance with state, D.C., tribal and U.S. territory cannabis laws. During an exchange with reporters at the White House recently, President Trump was asked about Warren and Gardner’s bill, to which he replied “I probably will end up supporting it.”
